Create Chronicles: The Endventure · from the world save

TheMike23's ancient-tree farm

A water-powered arm of saws and deployers sweeps a ring of Quark ancient saplings, cutting each tree down once it has grown and planting a new one. Three Ars Nouveau rituals, fuelled by burning charcoal, make the saplings grow faster. It stands at (-793, 71, -766), a short walk east of TheMike23's base.

Isometric render of the farm: a paved plot with a ring of saplings around a machine arm, three tall pale-barked trees with layered yellow canopies, and a storage stack at the west edge.
Rendered from the world save, seen from the south-west, as it stood at the last save: 33 saplings and 3 grown trees, 26–27 logs tall. There's no in-game photo of the farm: none of the server's 74 Exposure photos shows it. The nearest was taken 36 blocks away, facing north, about 92° off the direction of the farm. Modded blocks use their real textures; vanilla dirt, grass and stone are approximated.

How it works

The cutaway slices the farm open along the bearing's row, removing everything south of it, so the power train under the paving, the arm and the storage show in one view.

Power1–2

A water wheel under the plot turns at 8 RPM. A rotation speed controller multiplies that by 4 to 32 RPM, and a belt and a gearbox carry it up to the bearing.

Harvest3–5

The bearing turns a 4-block arm once every 1.9 seconds. Three mechanical saws ride at trunk height and bring each grown tree down; three deployers two blocks above replant from the arm's barrel. The planting ring is a 7×7 square with the centre left out: 36 spots.

Unloading6–7

Once a turn, when the arm points west, the interface on its tip docks with a fixed one. A smart chute drops the load into a Sophisticated Storage controller and the harvest barrel behind it. The arm was stopped at the dock when the world was last saved.

Growth8–10

Three Rituals of Overgrowth burn around the bearing to make the saplings grow faster. They run on Source from a volcanic sourcelink, which burns charcoal blocks fed from a barrel holding 11,274. At the last save the sourcelink held 19,835 Source and the jar 8,500.

Uptime

The farm's chunks were force-loaded on 11 Apr. FTB Chunks is in its default mode and FTB Ranks isn't installed, so the farm only ran while someone on TheMike23's team was online.

What it produced

Ancient-wood items in the team's storage

Everything made of ancient wood in block storage across The Team 23's 38 claimed chunks at the last save: 1,449,200 items. The harvest barrel has two void upgrades, which delete overflow, so the farm made more than this. How much more was never recorded.

The harvest barrel

The barrel the farm unloads into holds 524,290 ancient saplings, 392,680 sticks, 159,954 logs and 58,450 ancient fruit. The trees drop far more saplings than the ring can ever replant, so they pile up.

Reading TheMike23's stats

The farm puts its harvest straight into storage, so none of it counts as TheMike23 picking anything up. Their counters are still huge: 3,331,575 ancient logs dropped, 2,192,240 picked up and 746,243 charcoal picked up. They probably come from hand-feeding the saws and lava-fan smelters at the base, since throwing items onto a saw or into a fan counts as dropping them and collecting the output counts as picking it up. That fits the numbers, but the world doesn't prove it.

The other farm

klasssic built the same design 730 blocks away: the same ring and the same arm of saws and deployers, without the speed controller or the rituals. klasssic held their first ancient log 30 minutes before TheMike23 did, on the same evening. Which farm came first isn't recorded.
